I create collage and mixed media art that forms narratives from a variety of materials old and new. I’m inspired by nature, faces and places as well as memories and dreams. For years I have been collecting worn antique and vintage books, manuals, ledgers, and photographs, each one holding stories and secrets from the past. In my designs, I work to blend these elements from the past with something from the present, resulting in visually stirring pieces that evoke a sense of nostalgia, yet have a modern feel. Using old paper to tell stories.
Many of my designs incorporate old papers with weathered edges and marks made through time. Handwritten notes, children’s scribbles, worn mail, creased tickets, vintage stamps, browning tape and faded ink all create a sense of visual excitement that I love to incorporate into my art. Then I combine these elements with a touch of nature, a beautiful pattern, paint and color to elevate them to a new level.
